Cricket at Sir Thomas Rich's School

Looking for Sports Results and Fixtures?

Cricket is an important part of school life at Tommies and the School aims to compete successfully against very strong cricket playing schools.

Cricket is the major sport in the summer term. All pupils participate in at least half a term of cricket in their Games afternoons, with the A & B team squads staying on cricket for the full term. It is an major option for all pupils in the Sixth Form.

The School runs ten sides, two at Under 12, 13, 14 and Under 15 levels and two at Senior level. All sides play regular fixtures throughout the Summer Term, which also includes a short Channel Isles Tour to Jersey for both the Under 13 and Under 14 XI’s.

The u12 A’s, U14 A’s and u15 A’s all compete in the Gloucestershire County Cup and the ‘B’ XI’s at u12, u13, u14 and u15 enter the Gloucester City Cup.

Coaching through the year

All sides receive good-quality coaching from well-qualified and committed coaches. Coaching also takes place during the Spring Term, during which there is net sessions for all age groups. All players are encouraged to play to their strengths and a positive form of the game is coached by all staff. House matches are organised for all pupils throughout the school both in outdoor and indoor cricket.
