Sir Thomas Rich's became a Language College in September 2000 as part of the government's Specialist Schools Programme.
In an increasingly global society where people from different countries and nationalities meet in business and culture, language learning has a key role to play.
As a nation we have a poor reputation for language learning, especially amongst boys, and so it is a particularly challenging task upon which Sir Thomas Rich's has embarked. In our mission to raise the profile of modern languages, both within the school and the community and to increase the range of languages on offer, we have already met with success.
Alongside the main languages of French, German and Spanish we offer a number of language clubs - Latin, Italian, Mandarin Chinese and Esperanto. In partnership with Gloscat, we run adult classes in French, German, Spanish and Italian and provide language lessons and enrichment opportunities at local Primary and Secondary Schools.
Latest news: new French and Italian Holiday course - starts June 2009
