Japanese Club at STRS

The Japanese Club takes place on Tuesday lunchtimes at 1.15 pm in E1 and we are very fortunate to have a native speaker, Chitose Trapp, to take the club.

Why learn Japanese?

Knowing Japanese will set you apart from the crowd, act as a gateway to other Asian languages and cultures and offer many business opportunities for the advanced learner. Japan is the 2nd largest economy in the world and Japanese cultural exports are exploding. Furthermore Japanese is not as hard as one might think. e.g.  It has a simpler grammar structure than European languages

The Club

This is an opportunity to get started with some basic Japanese, understand about the three different writing systems kanji, hiragana and katakana and become familiar with some aspects of Japan’s rich heritage. Pupils have enjoyed practising calligraphy, trying out origami and turning their hand to Sushi making. Further opportunities for study can be arranged.

New members are welcome at any time and different levels can be accommodated. There is the opportunity to gain recognition of achievement through an external Asset examination if desired.
