Sir Thomas Rich’s Brass Ensemble is a group of brass players who
follow the modern classical brass ensemble tradition. The group plays as
a quintet or as a ten-piece or even larger depending on the concert.
Both traditional and modern music is played by the group. Normally the
group comprises of First trumpet, second trumpet, horns, First trombone
and Bass trombone and Eb Bass parts. However all brass players above
grade three are welcome.

The group rehearses on a Monday at 1.05pm (before Orchestra) and on
Thursdays after school when necessary! The academic year 2009 -10 saw us
perform at the Parents’ Association Christmas Fayre playing a selection
of well know Carols together with other classical music such as Samuel
Scheidt’s Allemande. At the Spring Concert we performed Purcell’s
dramatic music for Queen Mary’s funeral and a modern composition written
especially for Brass Ensemble Mr Jums ( Hazell arr Catherall).
